Health Care Services
At Extendicare Brampton we continuously strive to meet the care needs of our residents, families and our community. Our professional staff, which includes occupational therapists, physiotherapists, recreation therapists, registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, dietitian, pharmacist and social worker, provide care for individuals with many complex needs.

Residents can feel confident that our competent team will manage their health and social needs.

Nursing Care 
We achieve our nursing care goals through the Wellness Model of Care. Care goals are determined with the resident and family, as well as other members of the interdisciplinary team. Desired levels of independence, dignity, and personal preference are all part of the planning process, making each resident feel welcome and at home, while meeting their specific needs. This is achieved through Extendicare programs like Health Trac, Guardian Angel and C.A.R.E.

Professional nursing staff are onsite 24-hours a day. Care aides provide hands-on care at the bedside, assisting residents with the essential activities of daily living.

Accurate record keeping, as a component of our quality improvement activities, ensures that provincial, regional, and Extendicare standards are met, reviewed and evaluated on a regular basis.

Individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias have the opportunity to live life to its fullest in a safe, supportive and caring environment.

Dietary Services
Extendicare Brampton prides itself in providing nutritious, home-cooked meals. Special events, such as buffet dinners, theme nights, early and late breakfasts and holiday meals are a way of helping us to improve the quality of life for our residents. 

We have an established food committee consisting of a dedicated group of residents who meet regularly to discuss and review the current menu.  Changes to our menus are made as a result of the feedback that we receive from our Resident Food Committee. 

Our in house registered dietitian assesses the nutritional needs of our residents. In co-operation with our residents, families and registered team members, our dietitian develops the best-suited nutritional plan for each resident.

Resident Programs
Through the natural aging process, we find some residents may experience such conditions as general weakness, decreased range of motion, fractures, depression, and social isolation. Extendicare Brampton believes that physical conditioning aids in improving these conditions. 

The physiotherapy team and the activation department work together to help increase the strength, feelings of independence and self worth of all our residents.

Extendicare Brampton offers programming seven days a week, including holidays, and are designed to meet our residents' physical, social, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual needs.

Activity programs include social teas, exercise, bingo, baking, mental aerobics, crafts, garden club, cards, games, movie nights and much more. Special events include pub nights, theme parties, birthday celebrations and outings.

Our Snoezelen room can stimulate and promote communication in those living with dementia through its exciting blend of sights, sounds, aromas and movement.

Social Work Services
An integral part of our interdisciplinary team is our social worker. Our social worker is available for residents and families in need of counselling, support, information on government funding, finances, power of attorney, education or help with adjusting to their new home.

Our social worker facilitates various groups such as the family and resident support group and the family council. Social work services truly enhance the quality of life for the people who live, visit and work at Extendicare Brampton.
