At Extendicare Cedars Villa, we continue to enhance our skills and abilities to meet the increasing care needs of our residents, families and our community. Our professional staff, which includes occupational therapists, physiotherapists, recreation therapists, registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, dietician, pharmacist and social worker, provide care for individuals with many complex needs. Residents can rest assured that our competent team - who are on staff 24-hours per day - will manage their health and social needs.
Nursing Care
At Cedars Villa we achieve our nursing care goals through the Wellness Model of Care. Care goals are determined with the resident and family, as well as other members of the interdisciplinary team. Desired levels of independence, dignity, and personal preference are all part of the planning process, making each resident feel welcome and at home, while meeting their specific needs. This is achieved through Extendicare programs like Health Trac, Guardian Angel and C.A.R.E.
Professional nursing staff are onsite 24-hours a day. Care aides provide hands-on care at the bedside, assisting residents with the essential activities of daily living. Accurate record keeping, as a component of our quality improvement activities, ensures that provincial, regional, and Extendicare standards are met, reviewed and evaluated on a regular basis.
Individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias have the opportunity to live life to its fullest in a safe, supportive and caring environment. Our special care unit is designed and staffed with those needs in mind.

Dietary Services
We pride ourselves on providing nutritious home-cooked meals. The residents are offered seasonal menu selections and alternative choices of entrées at breakfast, lunch and supper. Our head cook and the resident food committee regularly review our meal plans and make suggestions for improvements. Our in-house registered dietitian works closely with our caregivers to assess the nutritional requirements of residents and integrate their needs into a balanced nutritional meal plan. The total dining experience is important to us and is assured through ongoing communication and feedback.
Social Work Services
Our social worker can help you and your family to become acquainted and accustomed to this new living environment. The social worker, a member of our leadership team, provides supportive counselling, information and education with regard to adjustment, psychosocial, and financial issues, guardianship, trusteeship, and as needed referrals to appropriate community resources.
