In keeping with our quality resident-centered care, individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias have the opportunity to live life to its fullest in a safe, supportive and caring environment. Our staff continue to promote resident independence by providing them with the assistance that they require and recognizing successes in efforts.
We value knowledge and skills and promote continuous education for team members, residents and their families. The knowledge and skills acquired by all are used to improve our standards of practice as we continue to strive to exceed resident needs.

- Social/Therapeutic Programs
Extendicare Moose Jaw offers a variety of programs for residents to attend, participate and enjoy. Programs are presented in the five holistic needs categories: intellectual, social, emotional, spiritual, and physical. Programs provide a balanced opportunity for residents based on their needs and interests. We encourage independence and resident choice in selecting daily programs.
Outings to community events and venues are regularly organized throughout the year. Some of these include parades, supper outings, shopping, going to the park and lake.
Recreation staff provide and facilitate programs seven days a week, including evenings. Families are encouraged to participate in programs with their loved one if desired and private areas are available for family gatherings. A barbeque is available for family events to create another treasured memory.
Our programs ensure that residents' unique needs and interests are acknowledged. We offer opportunities to participate in pet therapy, shopping, church services, music programs, bingo, board games, cooking and baking, barbeques, outdoor walks, and discussion groups. This is only a small sample of our varied programs.
Innovation, variety, quality and support are methods that the recreation department uses in striving to exceed our residents' needs.
