Health Care Services

Nursing Care
Extendicare Sunset is a 152-bed facility that provides services to individuals assessed as level three and four, those individuals requiring a high degree of nursing care.  We are a designated facility for young adults who are mentally and physically challenged and who are unable to fully function outside of a structured setting. Each of the two wings is staffed by registered nurses, registered psychiatric nurses, licensed practical nurses and special care aides who work as a team to deliver quality care.

Regardless of age - geriatric or young adult, all residents are provided with holistic care.  Care plans are used to address individual needs and goals.  An interdisciplinary team approach is used to meet social, spiritual, physical, emotional and cultural needs.  Using resident-centred care, our team works toward the goals of restoration, maintenance, rehabilitation, prevention and supportive care.  All care is carried out maintaining privacy and dignity for each resident.  Our nursing department staff values continued education to maintain and update skills in order to meet and exceed requirements of an ever-changing health care system.

Partners in Care

-
Community Partnerships

Extendicare Sunset is an integral member of the surrounding community it serves.  Partnerships have developed with community groups that further assist in addressing and meeting the holistic needs of residents. For example, the Cosmo Activity Centre provides a work environment for the mentally challenged, Paul Schwann Fitness and Lifestyle Centre provides Rehabilitation Services as needed, and the Saskatchewan Association for Rehabilitation of Brain Injuries (S.A.R.B.I.) is also available to residents needing this expertise. Out-patient services such as Mental Health, Physical and Occupational Therapies also can be accessed.

- Physicians
