Nursing Care
Our nursing department provides 24-hour professional care through its competent and knowledgeable team of registered nurses, licensed practical nurses and personal care aides.
Individualized care plans provide the foundation for meeting the many complex care needs of residents. The process includes assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning and evaluation. Its greatest strength is the involvement of the resident and his or her family in setting care goals.
Individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias can live life to its fullest in a safe and caring environment. Our specially trained staff continue to promote resident independence by providing them with the assistance they require.

Dietary Services
We pride ourselves on providing nutritious, home-cooked meals. Our head cook and the resident and family council regularly review our meal plans and make suggestions for improvements. Our visiting dietitian works closely with our caregivers to assess the nutritional requirements of residents and integrate their needs into a balanced nutritional meal plan. The total dining experience is important to us and is assured through ongoing communication and feedback.
Social Work Services
Our social worker can help you and your family to become acquainted and accustomed to this new living environment. The social worker, a member of our leadership team, provides supportive counselling, information and education with regard to adjustment, psychosocial and financial issues, guardianship, trusteeship, and as-needed referrals to appropriate community resources.

Resident Programs
We believe that rehabilitative and restorative care is of utmost importance in maintaining health, fitness and maximum independence. Our rehabilitation programs are delivered by an occupational therapist and recreational specialists. Programs focus on activities of daily living, environment, mobility and leisure.
We also provide our residents with a therapeutic milieu that incorporates social, recreational and leisure activities. Extendicare St. Paul values each individual's choice and lifestyle; this helps to design and determine the selection of programs that meet both individual and group therapeutic needs.
Programs are offered throughout the week, on evenings and weekends, and can include baking, excursions, movies, bingo, discussion groups, glamour sessions and much more. Special occasion celebrations, cultural and seasonal events also contribute to the diversity of our programming. We strongly encourage families and friends to participate in all of our programs.
