Nursing Care
At Extendicare Viking we achieve our nursing care goals through the Wellness Model of Care. Care goals are determined with the resident and family, as well as other members of the interdisciplinary team. Desired levels of independence, dignity, and personal preference are all part of the planning process, making each resident feel welcome and at home, while meeting their specific needs. This is achieved through Extendicare programs like Health Trac, Guardian Angel and C.A.R.E.
Registered nursing professionals are onsite 24-hours a day. Accurate record keeping, as a component of our quality improvement activities, ensures that standards are met, reviewed and evaluated on a regular basis. Elements of care provided can include preventative, restorative, rehabilitative, supportive and palliative care, or a combination of these elements.
Individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias can live life to its fullest in a safe, supportive and caring environment. Our staff continue to promote resident independence by providing them with the assistance that they require and recognizing successes in their efforts.
