Elements of care provided can include preventative, restorative, rehabilitative, supportive and palliative care, or a combination of these elements.
At Extendicare Vulcan, registered nursing professionals are onsite 24-hours a day. Accurate record keeping, as a component of our quality improvement activities, ensures that standards are met, reviewed and evaluated on a regular basis.
Individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias can live life to its fullest in a safe, supportive and caring environment. Our staff continue to promote resident independence by providing them with the assistance that they require and recognizing successes in efforts.

Social Work Services
Our social worker can help residents and families become acquainted and adjusted to living in long-term care.
The social worker, a member of our interdisciplinary team, provides supportive counselling, information and education with regard to adjustment, psychosocial and financial issues, guardianship, trusteeship and as-needed referrals to appropriate community resources.
Resident Programs
Extendicare Vulcan's rehabilitative team of occupational therapist and physiotherapist are committed to assessing and developing programs that will support the mobility and function of the residents. The recreation therapist works with the program teams and the facility planner to offer both group and one-on-one leisure and therapeutic programming.
Residents can also access a variety of programs that meet their intellectual, social, emotional, spiritual, and physical needs and interests. We encourage independence and choice by our residents in facilitating daily programs.
Residents can participate in church services, music programs, bingo, board games, cooking and baking, outdoor walks, discussion groups and much more. Outings to community events and venues are also regularly organized.
Families are encouraged to participate in programs with their loved one.
