Dietary Services
Long-term employees serving nutritious, home-cooked meals in the dining rooms are always ready to greet and chat with our residents. This contributes to a caring, family atmosphere that makes Extendicare Guildwood stand apart.
Our Resident Dining Committee consists of a dedicated group of residents who meet regularly with dietary staff to discuss and review the current menu. Changes to our menu are made as a result of feedback from this committee and the Caring Hands Multidisciplinary Team. Residents' favourites are often incorporated into the menu in order to make every dining experience, a pleasurable one.
At Guildwood, we take pride in sponsoring many special dining functions that are elegant and elaborate. Our many celebrations include the garden party, wine and cheese parties as well as special nights such as Valentine's Day and Christmas dinner.
Residents' nutritional goals are met through a team approach with our registered dietitian, dietary manager, and the Caring Hands Multidisciplinary Team providing input. The multidisciplinary team, including the dietary manager, the resident, the resident's family, and registered staff, works with our dietitian to develop the best-suited nutritional plan of care.
Residents' family and friends are encouraged to come to Guildwood and share meals with residents in either a group or private setting. The dietary department is happy to provide in-house, on-site catering for special occasions like birthday parties and anniversaries.

Support Services
At Extendicare Guildwood, our environmental services department, including housekeeping, laundry and maintenance personnel, supports all disciplines by providing a clean, safe and healthy environment in which to live, work and visit.
Our environmental services team focus is not only on the needs of our residents, but in fostering a trusting relationship with our residents, families, and team members. The department is also responsible for ensuring our residents are safe and secure both within and outside Extendicare Guildwood.
Dedicated and caring staff observes changes in residents' behaviour, to ensure we all contribute to meeting their individual needs. Communicating observations ensures the multidisciplinary team approach is both flexible and advantageous to resident care.

Social Work Services
Extendicare Guildwood recognizes that admission into a long-term care centre can be very difficult for both the resident and his or her friends and family. Our social worker can help everyone become acquainted with and accustomed to, this new living environment.
The social worker, a member of the interdisciplinary team, provides supportive counseling, information and education with regards to adjustment, psychosocial and financial issues, and arranges referrals to appropriate community resources.
Social work services strive to enhance the quality of life for all who live, visit and work at Extendicare Guildwood, The Home of Caring Hands.

Religious and Spiritual Services
At Extendicare Guildwood we understand the diversity of spirituality. Our resident program manager oversees pastoral services and spiritual care in The Home of Caring Hands.
Denominational church services are held regularly when members of the clergy from several churches in the Guildwood and Scarborough area come to the centre to provide communion and church services, as well as helping to meet the spiritual needs of our residents. Activities staff and volunteers from the community often arrange inter-denominational programs including bible studies, prayer sessions, hymn sings and one-to-one visits with residents.

Business Office
At Extendicare Guildwood, we believe in the importance of personal contact so you won't get a recording when you call us at 416-266-7711. The business office co-ordinator or a receptionist is available to assist residents, staff and visitors from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Friday and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends and holidays.

Our wheelchair accessible salon caters to all of our residents' hairdressing and manicure needs. Set a date for weekly or biweekly appointments or book appointments at the business office.
