At  Extendicare Oakview Place, our general services department ensures that our facility remains clean and our environment inviting. Our general services team members work closely with our residents and their families to provide a homelike environment.

The general services department is also responsible for ensuring that our residents' individuality is maintained by personalizing their rooms. They take great pride in maintaining our residents' clothing as if it were their own.

Social Work Services
Extendicare Oakview Place recognizes admission into a long-term care facility can be very difficult for you and/or your loved one.  Many changes are experienced when one moves into a long term care facility.  Our social worker can help you and your family to become acquainted and accustomed to this new living environment.

The social worker, a member of our interdisciplinary team, provides supportive counselling, information and education with regard to adjustment, psychosocial issues, financial issues and referrals to appropriate community resources.  Social work services strive to enhance the quality of life of all those who live, visit and work at Extendicare Oakview Place.

Religious and Spiritual Services
At Extendicare Oakview Place we understand the diversity of spirituality. Our pastoral care team oversees all pastoral services and spiritual care. Our associated relationship with a chaplain offers on-call service 24-hours a day with individual resident support available from the pastoral care team.

Spiritual programs relevant to many denominations are provided within our home. Spiritual and inspirational programs include hymn sing, short bible readings and reflections.

Weekly church services are held in an non-denominational setting. Our pastoral volunteers make regular visits, as well as provide the opportunity for receiving communion and blessings within some denominational practices. Residents' choices are fully respected in defining their spiritual needs.

Business Office
Extendicare Oakview Place believes in the importance of personal contact and recognizes the fact that our residents' and family members' schedules often vary. Our courteous receptionists are available to assist you between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. weekdays, 9:00 a.m.and 9:00pm on weekends. Our receptionists can direct you to the appropriate locations and individuals that you wish to access.

Our business office recognizes the importance of maintaining confidentiality in residents' information and financial documentation. Each residents' information is secured in a restricted area in the business office with a strict access to information protocol followed.

Hairstylist Services
Our salon is wheelchair accessible and located on the main floor. It caters to all of our residents' hair styling needs. Appointments can be arranged directly at the salon with our licensed hairstylist. She will be happy to meet your personalized service needs.

Maintenance Service
Extendicare Oakview Place works hard to maintain a functional, safe, sanitary and attractive environment in accordance with the home's goals, objectives and our Commitment to Residents.

The maintenance department is responsible for the grounds, landscaping and flower gardens. Maintenance of the home's common areas is diligently addressed, always working towards increased comfort and environmental appeal. A beautiful outdoor pond invites residents to enjoy the peace and tranquility of softly flowing water. An added feature is the authentic limestone aquatic fossil that adorns the outer edge of the pond. Newly planted blue spruce and mountain ash trees grace the yard.

Extendicare Oakview Place provides an optional wheelchair maintenance program for a nominal fee, which includes a complete diagnostic analysis, monthly tune ups and minor repairs.

Education Services
The safety of our residents is a key focus of education services. Monthly fire drills are carried out on all shifts to ensure that staff skills are kept to proficient levels. Education services also provides the opportunity for staff to express their questions regarding any area of technique, procedure or subject in respect to resident care.

All staff are trained through education services in the use of new equipment and all current health care subjects applicable to delivering optimum care to our residents. Pamphlets are available to families to reference in a variety of subjects. Education services is an important component to delivering consistently superior care by educating and training staff to Strive To Meet Or Exceed Resident Needs.

Volunteer Services
At Extendicare Oakview Place, our volunteers are an integral part of our team and valued beyond words. Volunteers support residents through assisting with scheduled recreation programs, events and one-on-one interactions.  Proudly, close to one hundred volunteers brighten everyone's day with their cheery demeanour.

Our affiliation with many community-based venues such as churches, schools, work experience, career-building and training programs provide Extendicare Oakview Place with the opportunity to continually recruit and maintain our valuable volunteer base.

Each volunteer is identified by a name tag they wear while on site and are trained in the roles that they assume. A Pledge of Confidentiality is a component of our orientation  program for volunteers, as is resident safety. Our volunteers abide by an established code of conduct without reservation, in ensuring a respectful and nurturing interaction with your loved one.

Extendicare Oakview Place encourages residents' families to join our team of dedicated volunteers when comfortable with the commitment.

Regional Accountant
Our regional accountant is available by appointment to assist you with interpreting billing statements and providing an itemized summary of service charges as requested. An organized process of assistance for yearly residential rates and appeals is available to ensure customer satisfaction. Computer information technology support is facilitated by the regional accountant to ensure that systems and processes are current and functional to the home.

Adult Day Program
As a supportive service to the community in which our residents live, an adult day program is offered onsite. This program operates during the day, five days a week.
